In a boring afternoon in October, 2010, I did not feel like to do anything. I
thought about my life and my encouter. I suddenly had the urge to write
something for my academic brother, Dr. Xiangbo Feng, who had passed away a
few years ago due to fatal illness. He died very young and was a great loss
to all of us, his friends and his colleagues in control community. He is one
of the few I truely admired in terms of research talent. I thought one way to
memorize him is to collect his papers I have collaborated with. I need a copy
of this paper. I search on the web and try to find whether I could find a
downloable electronic version. I did find the
journal webpage
with a list of
papers. To my greatest surprise, I could not found my paper in the issue it
was supposed to be. Fortunately, I did have a hardcopy of the whole issue and
checked the issue information again. The hardcopy is indeed contining my
paper while the electronic version contains nothing of the papers in the
hardcopy. Now I understand why there is no citation for this paper while the
other less important papers on the topic did get some citations. I started
contacting the publisher and I was told that the journal was stopped in 1998.
To show that I did have the paper published in this journal, I scanned the
paper in electronic format and hopefully people will have a chance to read. I
think I will continue to dig and find out why. So, the story continues...
